Dunno, but we do know (mechanistically) that:
- Makes it easier to learn a limited class of magic;
- Totally wipes out your facility with other types of
magic - including knowledge of those abilities;
- Allows you to "connect" to a secret.
Whatever it is ties you to a particular otherworld
(IIRC the 3 otherworlds were not something you were
particularly keen on, so this might leave a bad taste
in the gob) but not so tightly you can slide out of it
at a moments (expenditure of 2 hero points) notice.
It's ducking your head under the metaphorical slurry
pit without the feet welding bit.
As it kills facility with magic you already have it
must be something more than just specialising in a
particular field of knowledge. Perhaps some rite (a
deliberately failed HQ challenge?) that bonds you to a
particular other world and severs your connection to
the others.
My current thought is that there should be some sort
of contest to become concentrated (e.g. beat 10W with
your best magical ability of the type you're trying to
concentrate) reresenting this rite, but what the
Gloranthan reality of that rite is I have no idea at
the mo.
Cheers,
Ash
