At the risk of sounding like a bit of a killjoy, I'm a bit uncomfortable with this. A godi doesn't and cannot imbue a hero with magical powers, a god does. In that context, while we abstract this to game mechanic terms like 'initiate', this ought to be shorthand for a spiritual dedication, a genuine personal relationship with the deity in question. If granting magical powers was as easy as 'king tells priest to give them the mojo' then this devalues the process somewhat. Besides, Broyan might be able to intimidate the priest into walking the heroes through some ritual... but he can hardly intimidate Vanganth into providing magic!

I could see all sorts of short-term maguffins being at the narrator's disposal here ('the priest has a vision: Vanganth has blessed you and for the next seven days grants you Fly 17. It would be polite to burn a white bullock on his altar in thanks. After the adventure, you may say that the experience moved you and you want to initiate to Vanganth, in which case you'll get a bonus to your roll') but initiation ought to mean more than 'hey, here are some cool and useful powers'.

All the best

Mark
