        Uh! I agree with Alain! Didn't read this bit... I really don't understand this rule.

        From a character's POV, the status of the contestants should be obvious from the contest's descriptions. And if it's not, perhaps an unrelated action with an opponent's status estimating ability would help.

        From a player's POV, it's a matter of Narrator's taste IMO. Some referees feel it's right to roll dice openly and let players see NPCs' statistics, others prefer secrecy. But surely it isn't something that can be assessed by a rule!
