That you really need to be a shaman to beat up spirits. (I'm sorry, I was remembering the good old days of HQ, when we didn't have practices or traditions, and anyone could interact with spiits)

Just like initiates aren't really "in touch" with their gods enough to make full use of affinities (ie, can't improvise feats easily, usually use an affinity simply as a augmentor, etc.), practitioners are the lower level of "people who interact with spirits". They have nice, safe routines and rituals. They aren't able to fully explore the Spirit world (they are comparable to Windows or Macintosh users).

Shamans are Unix hackers. They go where they aren't supposed to go and do things they aren't supposed to do. And sometime it kills them. (sure, just type in "rm *" at the "/" prompt...). But their time commitment and need to concentrate their magic is at the same level as a devotee's.
