Perhaps part of the problem is that Ralzakark's skill with his big chopper isn't what might be represented by his "Greatsword fighting ability" in Heroquest.

Anyone with Greatsword attack and parry in RQ3 you'd call Sir - if he had his sword with him. However, if that's all he's got (i.e. he's not in armour, no defensive magic), 5 or 6 decent fighters (~100% skill) could take him down about half the time - he just couldn't hope to parry 5 people who are almost certain to hit.

If you make the bold, nay perhaps rash assumption that 1W2 in HeroQuest is about ~90% in RQ and being able to take 5 times as many people is worth another mastery, he'd seem to have a "Greatsword fighting" of the order of 1W3 (maybe a bit less if you knock something off for his sword).

Now, when you work the big guy up, his equipment is probably worth another +20 (decent magic greatsword and decent magic armour) and all his other abilities will probably crank him up another +20 (If he can't crank out three other augments at 1W3 I'd be surprised). So, meet the unicorn on a dark night and he can crank out 1W5. Call him Sir! Probably not as dangerous as the bat though...*

Moving on...

A POW of 44 means you can beat a POW of 24 99% of the time. This is like having a 2 mastery advantage. The POW of 24 can beat ye olde average priest with a POW of 16 90% of the time, implying another mastery. So, if a halfway decent God Talker in HW has 10W in all his affinities Ralzakark should have 10W4 in his best magic abilities. Ouch, bit tasty - but most mortals can't hope to face him down magically so it doesn't sound too extreme. You can probably reduce this by subtracting augments for relevant abilities (say, Illuminated 1W3) to come up with a relevant number that's within the range you'd expect or want.

Dunno if this helps, and no doubt stato will turn up and say why this back of a fag packet hack around is insufficient, but it works for me!

Cheers,

Ash
