When a combative hero in a combat cult gets a spirit ally, it seems likely that the spirits to come forward for that job will be combat-oriented.

THAT'S IT! I reread the section about how spirit allies work, thinking that I had to correct you by saying something that the rules don't actually say.

I had read it (incorrectly) as the spirit ally being released, adding all its points, then IMMEDIATELY returning to the fetish. But that's not what it says. It says "as described above."

In other words, even a spirit ally has to go back to the spirit world before it comes back into its fetish object.
