I have done this in my game. (Accepting the gift un-concentrated several theists.) It was not a routine occurrence, however.

My rationale was Greg's statements about most Gloranthans using mixed magic. If this isn't mixing magic, I don't know what is.

Since it's based on making a roll of their Friendship Spirit vs its attitude, I don't see why not. The spirit would not be friendly if they're not in its practice. So a "proper" worshipper would find it much easier to do this.
