I guess I'm not sure what's "ridiculous" in this situation. Personally, part of the fun of playing HeroQuest is looking over my character sheet and finding every ability that's relevant to a particular conflict. It provides a build-up to rolling the dice and it gives a more visual aspect to the conflict ("Okay, so my Pride is going to come into play here, so I look stone-faced and serious"). One augment may be quicker, but quicker is not always more fun.

Right, but then it seems that what your saying is "HeroQuest is unique, so let's take some of that uniqueness and scale it down." If you were playing D&D, would you only allow a PC to use one magic item at a time because "even though you have 3 magic items that are all cool and could work in this situation, it's faster to just factor in one, and it's ridiculous to have a PC using 3 at a time"?

Hey, play the game how you want, but personally, I'd be really frustrated by that kind of "timesaving," since one of HQ's best features (for me) is augmenting. It adds a level of drama and fun that few other RPGs have.
