Good point. I've never actually seen this, but it seems possible.

While we are on the topic of "social contracts", that seems to be the one potential weak point of tactics such as AP loans, variable augments, or picking on weaker opponents as an individual character. A player who avails himself of these riskier options, rather than just automatically augmenting the "combat monster", might not be popular if the risk doesn't pan out.
