Hi Mike,

For whatever reason my message kept getting slashed- here's three points I wanted to
make in the short:

The quotes from the last message support the idea of players with more input- and that
doesn't work well with the idea of following a predetermined path.

Regarding Heresy #5:

"HeroQuest encourages you to use the narrative conventions that
make fiction, adventure
movies, and TV shows entertaining. This is not the logic of a rigidly simulated reality with
dragons and magic thrown in, but the dramatic logic used by storytellers since the first
times." HQ pg. 62

My personal heresy- "Canon fidelity is pointless"

I say this because of 3 things.

  1. YGWV
  2. Most of the canon is not readily available. When I say readily available, I mean printed since the 90's and/or available on the web without having to piece together 3 or more sources(such as from the email lists). If canon was to be that vitala lot more of it would have been present in the core book or the immediate releases afterwards.
  3. Quote from Greg:

"Just for information sake, I´ve generally held that the
Heortlings are brown skinned, not
white, or pink, as it were. Artists, most European, have tended to draw everyone as pretty
much white, though."- http://glorantha.temppeli.or g/digest/gd9/2003.08/2529.html

At the point where Greg himself isn't too concerned with loose interpretation of canon and
imagery by his own artists- I don't think anyone is in a position to get upset about fidelity
to canon.

Chris
