Possibly a bit late to make this suggestion... Partly inspired by the description of the Unbreakable Sword from the Paulis Lonvgvale story in Lords of Terror and by many previous discussions in this list and others.

The Windsword is a daimone emboddied in a sword. To reveal its powers, the bearer must have a relationship with the sword daimone. It has a standard power available to the bearer with any level of relationship (say, for example, that the 1M3 gives a bonus of +6 to combat). Its higher powers are revealed at various levels of relationship (say 1M, 10M, 1M2, 10M2 or whatever you decide).

Further possibilities include:
1) Its higher powers are limited to the level of the bearer's relationship with the daimone.
2) The basic relationship allows the bearer to get a feeling for the sword daimone's intent/wishes. A relationship of 1M allows the bearer to ask questions and get answers (which will be based on the daimone's knowledge and beliefs, not the "cosmic truth"). At 10M, the sword will initiate discussions and at 1M2, the bearer can start to influence the sword. Other higher powers would also be revealed at various levels.

regards,
Charles
