I suppose it depends on how "realistic" (Yeah, right. In Glorantha?!?) you want to be, and how you want to play it narratively. The old RQ BladeVenom was an instant-damage with no after-effects kind of thing - which *is* really just an augment or edge. But sometimes the acid/poison is really a second "opponent", distracting and/or attacking/damaging the target while the original poisoner is still fighting him.
Really, acid is usually a fight-ender. A successful "I throw acid in his face" attack *should* pretty much distract your opponent into defeat (whether complete or otherwise), as long as the acid is strongish. Unlike most poisons (certain bugs, snakes, spiders etc excepted), which take at least a few minutes to effect the poisonee enough to make him stop fighting.
