To play devil's advocate, Tony, though the rules do say you can put anything in your description, where those abilities are standard, they're handled in a standard way. For example, there's the "broad ability" rules, the "pompous magic" rules, etc, that say all inform that abilities really are only in a certain range of sorts. And there are other implications in the rules about limits as well, yes. Basically you can make up abilities, yes, but that's not quite the same as saying that your character can have "anything." The structure is a good thing, generally.

(Now just how much structure is best and which structural elements are actually beneficial are separate considerations). :-)
