"The Big Fight" example

While rereading "The Big Fight" example (HQ, pg. 72) I noticed a discrepancy between the rules text and the example.

Galan's character sheet on page 23 shows his bison as a follower/spirit ally.

On page 67, under "Followers and Advantage Points," second paragraph, it says: "Neither the player nor the narrator makes action rolls for the followers. Instead, their actions are subsumed into those of their leader."

Page 137 states that Spirit Allies can "act as a follower."

But in the example on page 72, second column, starting a little less than 1/4 of the way down the page, the bison is clearly treated as a separate character. It's APs are calculated separate from Galan's, Bill makes am action roll for it's attack and defense. This seems to be in direct violation of the rules for followers given on page 67.

It seems like it should have been done in one of the following ways:

  1. Galan uses Bison Brain's Charge Foe (along with all the augments) at 1w2, which Galan himself may then further augment with his own abilities (Mounted Sword Fighting 5w, Ironbone Sword +7, Fight Well charm 17) for a total of 12w2 and a starting AP total of 52.
  2. Galan uses Mounted Sword Fighting 5w, Ironbone Sword +7, Fight Well charm 17 (14w total) augment by Bison Brain's Charge Foe ability (along with all the augments) for +5, giving a final target number of 19w and starting APs of 39.
  3. Galan uses his Mounted Sword Fighting, Ironbone Sword and Fight Well charm for a total of 14W and 34 APs, to which he adds Bison Brain's 41 APs (from Charge Foe plus augments of 1w2) for a starting AP total of 75.

Correct?

The above calculations presume that:

  1. The Sword Fighting ability listed on Galan's sheet on page 23 should really be *Mounted* Sword Fighting, as claimed on page 72.
  2. Heroes can use a followers ability score *including all augments* from the followers other appropriate abilities, and then augment with the his own abilities.
  3. Heroes can use a followers APs as calculated *after all augments by the followers other appropriate abilities are included* to add to his own AP total.

If Bill still wanted to attack both opponents (as in the example), he should have used the Multiple Opponents rules on page 79.

Now don't get me started on why Galan also has a warrior follower that he's not using in the combat!
