Yes, this breaks the rules as written, but *can* be done, though I don't think you should - the entire reason for the followers rules are to get away from having to roll for each being in an adventuring party, especially when you have someone like Galan, with several followers.

Kathy and friends aren't the best example group for rules, though they help shoiw the wierder sides of Glorantha and roleplaying. Remember that quite often, examples are written for one set of rules, and not updated when the rules change in editing. yes, we would love to have caught it, but...

Any of those methods (and others) could be used.

Not a big deal - as a bison rider most of Galan's physical abilities are assumed to be "mounted" as a default.

Most augments won't raise a follower's addition by more than +1. You need +11 in follower's augments to get a +2 to the follower's final contribution under the best conditions

Yes. It's a good idea to calculate the "Standard Combat Add" of a follower long before combat begins...
