Hi Mike,

I'm afraid "Dogs in the Vineyard" dented my enthusiasm for the crunchier (i.e. the mental arithmetic) aspects of HQ and I've been looking for a way of making ability use "all or nothing" in HQ for a while.

I've been reading the FATE list with interest and I've run a couple of second edition games (without a fixed skills list). Using Hero Points as lenses for augments in a FATE style looks like one of doing it for me.

Actually I can't see any problem with combining ordinary automatic augments with HP as lenses for adding your entire ability score onto your target number. I'll give that a try and see how it works.

On a complete tangent, have you tried playing FATE without skills? Just using aspects? That works quite well.

(Appologies to the rest of the list, but there was something or relevance to HQ as rules in there, honest!)

Cheers,

Ash
