- Defending against magic. According to HQ right now you can only use
magic abilities--often there is not a clear appropriate defense, so
trying to figure out what to use or with what penalty is significant.
Say two characters are fighting and one uses a 'break sword' feat on
the other. The other is a spiritist, which appropriate piety and some
horse related charms. What does he use to defend with?
- Liturgical blessings: how to set the target number and figure the
success level versus bonus that the congregation receieves. The same
applies for any other case where you would be trying to provide a
bonus to the whole where you aren't simply using the normal augment
rules (or maybe we should always use the normal augment rules?)
- Magic versus the world. The whole "some trees are normal and have a
14 resistance and some trees are magical and have a higher resistance"
bit is sort of clear. But how many magical cliffs are there? If I'm
using my horse's "ride up sunbeams" ability, do I face the sun's
resistance, always 14, or there are some magical sunbeams? If I'm
using 'run on top of snow' does it matter if the snow is on top of
'magic' ground? etc and so on.
- Wealth. I think most of us on this list probably get it by now, but
I know it took a lot of work to make sure I grokked it.
- Using social and/or sneaky magic. Can I use my "seduce" feat
without you knowing that I'm using magic? If I can, how can you
choose a magical defense?
- Defense in surprise situations (ambush, etc)
- Augmentation by one PC on another. Only one augment from ability?
Augment with many abilities like you would do for yourself? First
augment one of your abilities with the others, then use that to
augment the other character?
- appropriate and innapropriate augmenting abilities (or total number
of augments). Every group comes to their own decision on this, but it
would add comfort to have clearer guidelines. If I want my mom to be
proud of me, is that OK as an augment to rhetoric ability when I'm
making a speech to the village counsel? If I also want my dad to be
proud of me, and my kid brother to be impressed with me, can I augment
with all three of them?
-Group effort. I don't know if anyone is using those rules much
currently? For certain I think they need more examples!
- Generally more examples on showing intent versus actual in player
actions. Can you say "Grok yells in an assured tone that rings across
the market..." Again I think groups sort this out OK, but I think it
is one of the confusing points at first.
That is all for now :-)
Oh, and I really look forward to seeing the streamlined rules!
