Methinks the resemblance is not entirely accidental, though. In terms of world penalties of course, this is entirely correct.

In the sense that 'each otherworld' is essentially _defined as_ 'that part of the Other Side which is most efficiently communicable with by a particular method', yes. But I don't think the idea of there being three, discrete, completely separarable otherworlds is itself 'objectively correct' -- it's just a useful approximation to the truth, for many purposes (like building an empire based on exploiting others' magic, or writing games about the place).

Sounds about right to me. Or at least, either this happens, or you become extinct. ;-)
