Character creation question

Hello everyone,

My group is giving me an opportunity to gm the next game, and they have expressed interest in playing a Star Wars game. I've had the Heroquest rules for awhile now, and I figured this would be a perfect chance to try them out since everyone knows the conventions of the setting.

I've been re-reading the rules, and I can't seem to wrap my head around Keywords and character creation.

Let's say I create the keyword "Rebel Soldier" and under this keyword the "Rebel Soldier" gets the abilities Ranged Weapon Training, Melee Weapon Training, Toughness, and Cause: Bring down the Empire.

Now, using the select 10 abilities method of character creation, one of my players picks the keyword "Rebel Soldier". Does the player get the 4 abilities under "Rebel Soldier" and gets to pick 10 other abilities, or are the four abilities that come from "Rebel Soldier" count in the 10 ability limit?

I am tempted to make character classes for this game to ease myself and the players into the Heroquest mind set. My initial though was to make a bunch of character classes or templates, so the characters could pick one, and then modify the abilities to fit their characters. So maybe someone takes 3 of the abilities out of "Rebel Soldier", leaves one of them, and picks 7 other abilities to suit their character.

Thanks in advance for the help!
