Good point.
As I say, I think collective rating are a better way forward. Though inevitably, this will suffer the same 'problem' as all simple contests: totally different odds, especially in rank mismatches.
When I get some time, I'll try and do a spot of number-crunching and suggest some means of guestimating an adjustment for both the above.
