Don't get what you mean when you say this.

That's a tremendously vague statement, though, and doesn't compell me to see any strong similarity.

Which it entirely fails to do, of course. I cite falling damage and healing rules as proof positive... AD&D hit points are a classic example of 'more effort spend on rationalising the duff rule we have, than thinking of a better one'. (There's a moral lesson in there...)
