I would just treat the mount as a follower and allow it to add AP for its run (perhaps with an upper limit of the archers ride) to the archer for the purposes of resisting the advance. If the mount had say 2W in run, the archer was say 5W with his bow and 5w with his ride this would make 47AP (22 + 25) which would reflect how difficult it was to close.
