The interpretation of the name into game effects is something that we as players and narrators do. Gloranthans don't. If you have an already-defined feat, and you know what it does in the game, then I don't think you should change it. Pick an effect, write it on the character sheet if you want, and if they want to do something different, then improvise a new feat. That's the way I play it. Having said that, I would allow the above, at a distance penalty, and resisted by their sword fighting ability. Quite difficult.
