That's what Lunar military magicians do. The Lunar army doesn't need the same artillery support the Romans had, because they employ heavy-duty military sorcerers who can drive their opponents barking mad, explode them with arcane powers, bombard them with meteorites, make them run away wetting themselves, etc. More so than any other Gloranthan nation, FWIW.

The Lunars are not Romans.
