Actually, Simon (Hibbs) is a chap who is playing in my game ;-)

My players are very good at making up material on the spur of the moment. Much of what happens in my games is based on me elaborating on something a player has said. Most of the NPCs have been named by the players. I admit it would be hard work for a newby but my players aren't, so I'm making the most of it.

However creating new feats isn't really a spur of the moment thing. It should be part of character creation as I view it as central to the game. I'm happy for players to spring new feats on me if they've thought about how they fit into the game but not just to solve their current problems.

Feats are part of the social and mythological background of Glorantha. I think they should be pretty much standard across a clan/city/etc but should probably vary with region. Yelm worshippers in Prax (maker of deserts?) would have a very different relationship to the sun than in Dara Happa (provider of warmth?).

I haven't expressed justification for the listed feats but I could provide if asked. I take it as read that the PCs know the background to the standard feats they use and I'm happy to provide the player with an explanation.

I haven't used Orlanthi magic in my games. There was one Pentan spirit fetish that was being used in a naughty way by a Lunar but that was quite easy to handle. Lunars are more into standardisation so I suppose there could be a bit more scope for freedom amongst the Orlanthi. Perhaps each Godi knows slightly different myths and hence feats, or perhaps they like to specialise. You might find your Godi knows 5 feats linked to flying but nothing about fighting.

A change of Godi in a village might bring a big upheaval if the new guy uses completely different feats. As these are passed down in the oral tradition it is unlikely to happen but not impossible, given th headstrong nature of the Orlanthi.

All this is extra work of course.

Steve
