there was a big, long, debate about ambushed and hunting on this list long ago, this was the favoured answer for those who use extended contests.

It gets like that when you study it. You have to accept that you have to do all the hard work inside your own head, the system just juggles numbers.

I'd allow the weaponthane a minimum of 20 spot ambush (CC 5W1 minus a Improv Modifier - I use -5 mods). A good warrior learns to spot ambushes, and Improvisation can solve a lot of problems (as well as Augments).

There I agree, horses are too slow.
