In HW, 'wealth' is pretty much exactly equivalent to 'Relationship with people who accept money for goods and services'.

For example, two Orlanthi try to get a room in an Inn in BoldHome. Naturally, they head for an Inn run by a member of their clan. One tries to get a room for free, using his 'Relationship to Clan'.

"C'mon cousin, would you turn away a kinsman?

The other pays cash.

Who gets the good room, and who gets to kip in the stables?

That all depends on the roll, and the GM-assigned improv penalty.

For an Inn in BoldHome, it would probably be the clan relationship that would take the penalty. Move to a smaller city, and things are more even. Try again in the clan Tula, and the guy with the money will wake up with straw in his shirt...

There you go, HW rules and Marxism 101, all in one post.

Richard
