The decision about how the goodies you get from a Quest are distributed are made before the quest is started. You have to say "I'm going on this quest to get a magical widget for me" or "I'm going on this quest for the good of the community" (yes, I know, me having a magical widget is good for the community as long as I'm on their side). You will get more support from the community if they know that *they* will get a tangible benefit out of it than if they know that you'll be keeping the widget for themsleves (note that "community" can be a Clan, a tribe, a small group of friends, a hero band...). The community's wyter then gets involved - both to be a pipeline for the Center World supporters to the Otherworld Hero(es), and as the recipient of the magical widget at the end of the quest. Wyters will be fully explained in Thunder Rebels.

His community (whatever that happens to be), preparation, and his own abilities.
