Most of those required them to be done out of sight of the target. (I hide and wait for them to come by) (I dive for cover and Hide) (I set up the booby trap and go into the bar)

Its about the same as trying to "Hide In Shadows" when the guard is looking at you in Some Other Game starting with D... And no one complains about that -- when do YOU hide in shadows? Or engage the Cloak.

And, if someone hid with magic in plain sight, I'd let him be hid but everyone would KNOW he's here *somewhere*... and make it a direct contest of magic vs perception (with a hefty bonus to the onlooker)

To use a previous arguement raging elsewhere -- sometimes yes, sometimes no. It really does depend on the situation.

Augment before hand... then its just 'wow, he's *good*' Or, particularly when its no holds barred arguements -- you know, the scorched earth 'discussion' you had with your Chief just before he kicked you off the tula.... When its really, really important and winning is paramount ratherthan finesse or future repercussions.

And, of course, everyone does magic on the Hero Plane. Its expected almost as a routine.

At least, that's how we do it down in downtown Lo Hung Mung-vania.
