Coincidentally, there's a series of TV programmes in the UK all about the real world Shamans, out in Siberia (where the word Shaman comes from). Some of them have offices with visiting hours for out-patients, some still live in Yurts and bang hand-made awoken drums. They all seemed like very nice, happy people though (but having just been released from Communist bans on Shamanic practice, they might still be warming up...).
