At the risk of going way off topic, the imfamous Roman shortsword was
the Gladius Iberius. They got it off
the-folk-who-would-eventually-become-spaniards.
Not sure about this other shortsword. But by the time of the Conquest of Macedon, the Romans had already adopted most of their weapons and tactics (at least until Consul Marius came along)
