Well there is another (possibly minimaxing) reason to split across two cults - because you want to focus one particular thing, and want to get as much available magic as you can - so, for example (pre TR) a hunter might have chosen to follow Odayla and Yinkin. Now, possibly (I am still reading TR) you might want to follow Lankhor Mhy and Orlanth Lawspeaker

This is a different matter from someone following LM and Humakt, for example to create a "Sword Sage" type character. I can certainly see the rationale for saying you can't be a devotee of one diety and an initiate of a different deity with a completely different focus, and I can see how the many aspects of Orlanth will help to solve this problem. I am less certain about the "Specialist deity and (same) specialist aspect of other deity" case (mostly because I haven't yet read that section of TR in detail, partially because ST might further impact on this, and partially because I haven't really thought about it properly yet...)
