I believe that this is in the FAQ (or at least Roderick was goingto put it there)

In essence: Each community or group can provide assistance but only for different things. The Clan can provide a boost to Mythology to get through but your fanatical bloodline will support your close combat at the fight scene. Often these can be symbolized by an item (a rope of hair from every clansmen or a bag of wind filled by your warband)

But you can't have multiple groups adding to a single step or skill. So, having two groups boost your Mythology Orlanth to crash the barrier is not going to work (IIRC) but one can boost your mythology and the other might provide initial carryover (which will help get through)
