I added Greg's comments to the files section at the time, so you can refresh your memory. Taken along with the description of how initiates do magic in Thunder Rebels the rules seem to be clarified as - initiates do magic from the affinity at no penalty, but its nonspecific, generally interpreted as an augment - if they want something with the effects of a feat it is at an improvisational modifier.
