I have to agree with David here. That a sorcery-user's basic magic skills will be lower than a theist's after an equal number of game sessions (all things being equal), due to the higher Hero Point cost of buying up grimoires vs. affinities "feels wrong" to me.

I'm *not* arguing here about whether the ability to open multiple grimoires is somehow "balanced" by the inability to improvise from any grimoire, or whether the additional benefits of slightly cheaper duration and range will have any great effect in play. Just on a basic player-character-parity level, it feels wrong.

(Besides, I feel that nobody would have objected if grimoires had cost the same to open and improve as the other magical abilities. It's only because the HW:RiG rules printed them with a higher cost that defenders are now leaping in to justify that cost. ISTM. YGMV).
