Here's an idea for a scenario I've wanted to put into play for years, based upon a historical incident (the massacre of the MacDonald clan at Glencoe). Hope somebody can take this and run with it. Names can easily be changed to suit local circumstances.

THE GLAINNOCK MASSACRE The ___ tribe has been waging a losing battle against the Lunar Empire, and has finally decided to accept an offer of amnesty to insure the tribe's survival. This decision was bitter to many in the tribe, yet the clan chief and his ring made the tribe's leaders see the wisdom ofAll the clan leaders have therefore gone to swear allegiance to the Empire, except for the chief of the Glainnock clan. Deciding to swear his allegiance at the last minute, he was delayed by a heavy snowfall. He also went to the nearest Lunar official, who could not accept his allegiance, and finally arrived at the designated authority days past the deadline.

The Lunar commander decided to make an example of the troublesome Glainnocks, so he sent warriors from the rival Orrack clan (which seeks to curry favor with the Lunars) with orders to punish those who would not bow to Lunar rule. They arrived in a heavy snowstorm, and were taken in by the unsuspecting Glainnock clan in accordance with Orlanth's laws of hospitality. Given fire, food, and shelter, the Orracks waited until all were asleep. They butchered the clan as they slept, leaving only a few to the mercies of winter. Some escape to tell the tale of the treachery of the Lunars and the Orracks.

The players can be the retinue of the Glainnock Lord, or the warriors who are on guard the night the Orrackmen arrive. They might also be the ones who found the ravaged stead, following a trail of old men, women, and children who had fled into the brutal night. The obvious violation of Orlanth's laws of hospitality will set many against the Orracks, who are a powerful faction within the tribe. If the player characters are Lunars, or Lunar sympathizers, they might be charged with explaining away the atrocity, or punishing the Orracks, in order to keep the ___ tribe sympathetic to the Lunars.
