Of course, if the magic used is totally alien to the augmentee, that doesn't stop them being surprised. A western knight who's never seen anyone run over treetops might be very disconcerted when a Vingan snogs him and tells him to leap for it... :)

And augmenting someone else with Trickster magic could have, um, interesting and unpredictable results.
