And a nice set of thoughts too.

I suspect that the bargain was along the lines of leaving the "interesting" moment of killing/death to Humakt and Issaries offering to take the responsibility for managing the souls of the dead off his hands.

If this bargain were struck before the compromise then Humakt would not have known the full results of the Life/Light Bringers quests. Plus at least one version of the myth indicates that Humakt himself was broken and rusty in hell so his bargaining position was not that strong.
