If that's the problem, the solution could be to run it as a Simple
Contest.
However, I think a key trick is not to say 'I use ability X', but to
describe it from the PoV of someone there.
PC 'I rage at the spirit to leave'.
(Use Spirit Combat to drive the spirit out)
Narrator: 'The possessed man screams back and tightly presses his
hands over his ears'.
(Use Might to resist)
PC 'I beat him with a holly branch, to drive out the spirit.' (Use Spirit Combat to drive the spirit out) *ouch*
Narrator: 'The possessed man snaps at the branch and tries to tear it
to shreds with his teeth!'
(Use Might to resist) *OUCH*
PC 'I take another glug of my fly agaric potion' (Use Spirit Combat to drive the spirit out; a low bid. Or perhaps an enhancement attempt)
Narrator: 'You sense the spirit using the interlude to tightening its
grip on the possessed man'.
(Use Might to resist)
