Indeed. Or many of the options.

A group of heroes managed to defeat a foreign sorcerer that had travelled to the outskirts of Snakepipe Hollow, and mindcontrolled several chaotic leaders. (he was just doing some research)

At the end of a rather nasty fight, the Humakti of the group cut of the sorcerer's head and took it with him to display it to the prince. (the Household of Death again)

The sorcerer had strange and unknown powers and held power over chaotic monsters. Taking the head was a precaution against him rising again, as well as a token of the seriousness of the enemy.

It also means that the lawspeakers of the Prince will get to see what the man looked like, and it will be properly written down in the Jonstown Compendium.

Most amusingly the meldek had an apprentice...
