I totally agree, that's the beauty of playing in an setting that allows, nay cries for ambiguity in situations. I can easily see the character not caring or even enjoying killing his half-brother given their past history OR doing it as a neccessary duty and regretting it terribly afterward (whether that's a proper Humakti sentiment or not).

To a large extent I agree with that but lets look at the various opinions here;

To the clan his brother is outlawed (not kin) and the Humakti is kinsevered  (not kin). Legally there is no kinstrife here.

To the gods this is a Humakti matter, divine retribution will not come into play as this is not kinstrife so far as the gods are concerned. This is very explicitely stated in the section on kin severing and would even still be true after resheathing.

To many people all of the above is somewhat beside the point, killing your own brother is a terrible thing even if justified and allowed. The Humakti can expect to be treated even more distantly than the average Humakti after such an act. Anyone who would do such a thing might be tolerated (after all both the clan laws and the gods seem to regard it as legitimate) but not liked. Of course if he cared that much about the opinions of others he would hardly be a Humakti in the first place..

All IMHO of course.
