The great story line here is really "What does this do to the hero?" Sure, his brother is an outlaw, a Gagarthi and all those terrible evil things. But the Narrator might, for dramatic purposes, remind the avenging Humakti of the time his brother saved him from drowning, gave him the best cuts of meat and just absolutely worshipped him when they were young. The point is that the most telling stories show the intense conflict between personal experience and idealized social goals. This is a great opportunity for that.
