And her flexibility....her starting skills and magic cover a lot of ground. I'm absolutely convinced that for the power gamer "initiate of Vinga" is the key word of choice for followers intended for combat duty. (assuming your hero doesn't have problems with protecting women and children, that is....). The Vingan has magic to help in almost any sort of combat and most other physical conflicts, as well as a good range of skills.

general.

And they cover a lot of territory. A lot of affinities have a number of quite similar feats. Not only are the Vingan feats broad, the affinities are broad because of the variety of feats. Just look at Combat, with two useful ranged combat feats that you would use in different situations, a defensive feat, and a close combat feat, plus the two specialized fight against ones. In other words, if you are using the affinity to augment with, it should suffer no penalties in the vast majority of combat situations, quite unlike certain other cults. This means that, in situations where there is time for augments, your Vingan follower is going to be ~10% above someone with a generic "warrior" keyword, and....that is just in straight up combat! In short, there is almost no situation where an "initiate of Vinga" isn't more helpful as a follower than a "warrior," provided your heroes ethics don't clash with those of the red women.
