And a bow made of just bone and sinew can be remarkably powerful - the aformentioned composite bows used by the Inuit are made this way.

They had the most sophisticated bows in North America - and resemble Mongol style bows very closely. This shouldn't come as any surprise as they are relative latecomers on the North Amercian scene.
