As at Origins, only three out of six events officially ran, with a fourth
being salvaged. All began well when Thursday's events, "Will Of The Gods"
and "Bad Rain over Taral", sold out. Although one player failed to
attend, both times, each was very successful overall. Friday's events
were poorly attended, "A Feathered Queen Arises" and "A Brideprice From
Hell" each being one player shy of running, despite adequate ticket
sales. I turned the latter into an improvised session to showcase the
basic rules and hero creation, while the former evolved into a discussion
of /King of Dragon Pass/ and other things Gloranthan (players discovered
that they lived a mere ten miles from one another, as well, which bodes
well for /Hero Wars/in their local gaming community). "The Sun Stands
Betrayed", the first of Saturday's events, had four players in attendance
but five registered. We ran about two hours over our scehduled time, so
interested were the players in following the adventure to its conclusion.
"For King And Country" had but one attendee out of three registered, and
was cancelled outright.
Thanks to those list members who turned out to play, especially Roland
Volz whose misfortune proved worthy of its own Welsh triad. He registered
for all three of the "Lonisisaga" events which achieved inadequate
attendance and, in my seriously sleep-deprived state, I could only
salvage one of them. Thanks once again to Mark Galeotti for his generous
contribution of six Lunar Empire maps, which did much to assuage the
disappointment felt by players, when events did not run. They were also
well-received by those whose events did run, and I expect that a few
homes will have mounted-and-framed copies adorning their walls very soon.
