It's not exactly "perversity", as I see it. You become Orlanth. Orlanth is fighting his Great Enemy. You are fighting your great enemy. All the books balance...

I'd think the real challenge would be, not just entering into your enemy's heroquest (which seems natural to me), but controlling the flow of the heroquest from that point.

e.g. Woody the Elf is heroquesting at the same time[*] as his enemy, Uzbo the Death Lord. The easy part is becoming Flamal in Uzbo's quest. The hard part is having the quest end some other way than "Uzbo kills Woody, takes his axe, and goes to town"...
