Although CHDP (p 148) says the crimson bat attacked whitewall & was driven off in 1619, OiD (p 9) clearly states the bat's attack occured as the culmination of a year-long magical assault in late 1621 (p. 9)
i've assumed the OiD reference as the accurate one if only for the reason it is a etic narrator resource rather than an emic story written 20 years after the fact.
alternatively it could be an error, but i've heard no-one say so...
could anyone explain?
