"Orlanth Is Dead is test of faith."

This is a significant statement. As previously discussed, there is no real "faith", in earthly terms, in Glorantha. In Glorantha, everybody knows that their God/Gods exist. As Nick cogently expressed, faith is Glorantha is not believing that your God exists, it's believing that he is right.

IMO, Orlanth is Dead is something *very* unusual in Glorantha. For the first timne in generations, Orlanthi *do* doubt that their God exists! I frankly have no idea how a Heortling would respond. Shocked amazement, resignation, suicidal depression, berserk anger, whatever. But I really don't think you can compare it at all to a traditional RW test of faith. A clergyman is trained and prepared to have doubts and occasional lapses in faith. He can consult 1000s of years of writing on the subject. In light of the recent scandals, I'm sure that many priests *are* consulting this material, their fellows, and their conscience.

The poor Orlanthi has no preparation at all.
