Hi all
+In the case of a lone hero against 188 oponents, if we read too much
HeroWar as
a story telling game with "characters over statistics", "heroism over
realism"
and movies as inspiration of how the contest will develop, the skill levels
of the
protagonists are not relevant.
If the 188 are fated to lose, even hardened veterans of the elite steel
sword legion
will be unable to beat a one armed food trollkin.
Conversely, if the hero is fated to lose, even Jar-Eel will lose her
eloquence when
debating against stammering mindblasted white moonies.
More seriously, since almost anything can be used in an extended contest,
the hero
must endeavour to break the 188 oponents into more manageable groups (let us
say 10 oponents or so per group).
Once he has beaten enough groups, the rest should break and flee (ie he has
not to beat each and every
oponent to win the contest).
+Battle magic
I think that the Lunar/Dara Happan have the secret that allow an individual
to give a magical
effect to a each member of a group.
In case of battle magic, the individual connects with the regimental lare,
gives his magic and each
member of the unit is affected.
One example is in the Craddle scenario, when each hoplite of the marble
phalanx has his spear point
affected by a fireblade spell.
The dara happan can only do that to a whole regiment, the lunar can do the trick with only a vexilia.
I am confident that the barbarians will learn to do something similar in the future of the hero wars
Cheers
Jean
