Stephen Brust's books 'The Phoenix Guards' and 'Five Hundred Years After', written in the style of Dumas, have no important human characters. The hero of his Vlad Taltos stories is human, but he spends most of the books in an elven-dominated society and many of the other characters are elves.
In SF, several of CJ Cherryh's books are set in alien societies with any human characters described solely from the alien viewpoint.
